ドライバーの十戒

私が住んでいるつくば市は、マイカーなしではとても生活が不便な所です。でもそれはつくば市だけではなく、公共交通で一通り移動できるのは大都市圏の一部だけというのが、今の日本の現状だと思います。
こういう状況はおかしいと、交通事故に遭ってからますます思っているのですが（どうしておかしいのか、環境の面からは夏学期の「水環境論」で解説したとおり）、ローマ教皇庁（バチカン）もクルマ優占社会に警鐘を鳴らしたそうです。以下はJAF Mate10月号の「海外交通ニュース」から。

ドライバーの違反や不注意のため、世界で年間120万人が命を失う。これは社会や教会に対する重大な挑戦であるとしてバチカン（ローマ教皇庁）が「ドライバーのための十戒」を発表した（以下、省略）

ドライバーの十戒（抄）
１．汝殺すなかれ。
２．道路は人々の交わりの手段であるべきだ。
３．礼儀正しく高潔で慎重であれば、不測の事態に対処できるだろう。
４．困っている隣人を助けなさい。特に事故の犠牲者を。
５．自動車が権力や支配の表現であってはならない。
６．体調の悪い人には運転をさせないこと。
７．事故犠牲者の家族を支えなさい。
８．事故を起こしたドライバーとその犠牲者を会わせなさい。
９．路上にあっては、より弱いものを守りなさい。
１０．他者に対して責任を感じなさい。

知人から英語原文が掲載されているURLを教えてもらいました。英語だと下記になります。

1. You shall not kill.

2. The road shall be for you a means of communion between people and not of mortal harm.

3. Courtesy, uprightness and prudence will help you deal with unforeseen events.

4. Be charitable and help your neighbor in need, especially victims of accidents.

5. Cars shall not be for you an expression of power and domination, and an occasion of sin.

6. Charitably convince the young and not so young not to drive when they are not in a fitting condition to do so.

7. Support the families of accident victims.

8. Bring guilty motorists and their victims together, at the appropriate time, so that they can undergo the liberating experience of forgiveness.

9. On the road, protect the more vulnerable party.

10. Feel responsible toward others.
