私は陸水学会の国際誌Limnologyの初代編集幹事長を務めました。最初が肝心なので、投稿規定はすごく神経を使って念入りにチェックした上で公開しました。
Scienceと言えば歴史も長く、またスタッフもLimnologyと比べて大勢いると思うのですが、投稿規定に信じがたいミスがありました。
"Instructions for preparing an initial manuscript" (http://www.sciencemag.org/authors/instructions-preparing-initial-manuscript)のMaterials and Methodsセクションに"See Experimental Design and Statistics Guidelines below for details."
と書いてあったのですが、そのbelowに当たる記載が見当たらないのです。
仕方なく問い合わせ先を検索してメールで質問したら、下記の回答が届きました。

やはり先方のミスでした。
