週末に、英語ネイティブを含む複数宛てのメールが行き交いました。私とだけと違って、口語に近い表現が入っているように思いました。下記で下線をつけたのがそう感じた表現です。
元々英語は苦手ですが、こういう表現を見るとヤレヤレと思います。私レベルの語学力だと現地でしばらく暮らさない限り、会話についていけるようになるのは難しいです。
I know it is late the weekend for most, but you are the folks who responded to my plea.
To me, this current version is flat, but it’s the best I can do for now.
So feel free to liven this up or edit in other ways.
Regarding the use of chartreuse, I like that word b/c it conveys an in-between color (yellow-green, light green, etc.).
Most Americans will have to look up the meaning of chartreuse, but that's good. Expands their vocabulary!
