I am very sad about what is happening in Ukraine.
A friend of my Russian geologist sent an email to all his foreign scientist friends saying he is against Putin's decision shortly after the Russian invasion.
None of the scientists on Lake Baikal in Russia did so. I was shocked by Putin's decision, but the reaction by Lake Baikal scientists to this is more serious to me.

it is a tragedy. xxx, yourself and I have been fortunate to live so long in peace.
Portugal is as far West in Europe as you can be but we are still worried and we have many Ukrainian friends and colleagues.
Indeed a couple we know went back just before the invasion because her mother was very ill. The mother has now died, but they are having problems to travel back with the airports closed and 2.5 million refugees pouring into East Europe.

ロシアの大学で客員教授をやっているアメリカの友人に、ロシアの大学の学長から今回の侵攻の正当性を延々と書き、「本学は政府を全面的に支持する」でくくったメールが届いたそうです。科学者にも政府の情報統制は進んでいるようです。
