先週のアメリカ国会議事堂襲撃事件、アメリカ人の一部にとっては相当衝撃的だったようです。いつもはすぐに返事が来るアメリカ人の友人からしばらくメールが無く、昨日ようやく下記が届きました。民主党政権になって彼女が期待するとおり、少しは息がつける状況になるといいのですけれど、日本のツイッターでは「大統領令」というワードがトレンドになっていたりして、アメリカでもスンナリいかないような気もします。
I apologize for taking several days to reply. Last week's terrible events in Washington, D.C. were devastating. Fortunately, Twitter, Facebook, and other social media are banning Trump so he no longer has his battering ram (i.e., social media). Also, some companies and legal firms are taking positions against him. I hope there is no more violence and I will breathe more easily once Biden/Harris are inaugurated.
